Take Me To The River....Er, The Pool

Twenty-one of us witnessed the spectacular event of Kirston being baptized in our pool! We began with everyone arriving and being greeted by Sadie (our 100 pound plus Golden Retriever who thinks she is a lap dog). I brought a short message on baptism and highlighted the monumental decision that Kirston was making and we convened to the patio where we sang a couple of choruses. Amazing to feel the Spirit of the Lord move amongst us outside the church walls!

Pastor took his place in the baptistry (a.k.a. the pool) and Kirston joined him. How marvelous to watch her being touched by the Lord as what she was doing sank in! We all rejoiced with her at this monumental decision!

Following our service we enjoyed refreshments prepared by my lovely Bride, Cynthia! She outdid herself again! The hostess with the mostest! Stay tuned for more happenings and hopefully more pottery pieces here at the Mudhut!

Granny Riggs a.k.a. Jewel Marie Riggs

It was a sad day. It was a happy day. Balancing the two proved very difficult indeed. No one could find fault with Granny going to heaven. Everyone would miss her terribly. It was a beautiful thing to watch her family march into the sanctuary to celebrate the life of this lady who had impacted them all so much. For the rest of their lives they would see Granny in things that they did, hear Granny in things that they said, and take solace in the fact that she touched so many lives so deeply.

One of my favorite memories of Granny occured when I helped her into bed from her wheelchair. Cynthia was smoothing the covers and I gently (or so I thought) lifted her from her chair and placed her on the bed. She looked at me with a stern face and said, "You rough duck, you!" To this day we use this moment to describe any sudden or jarring incidents.

I am amazed at the impact one little lady had on so many people. Family alone would total over one hundred! Add to that the church family, friends and neighbors, and everyone she would meet and the number easily runs into incalculable digits. Truly, Granny was loved and loved greatly. God bless you, Granny!
