Shoemaker Family Reunion

The Shoemaker Family Reunion took place this weekend at Betty & Abner's home in Locust Grove. Everyone gathered for food, fun, and the festivities! There was some hot Ping Pong going in the garage (and I do mean hot as we were dripping with sweat!!) as well as some water fun in the backyard. Others played Bacci Ball in the front yard, sat under the trees telling stories, or trapsing back and forth from the feast that was spread out in the kitchen. Grandpa Royce was brought from the Convalescent Center to join all that attended, Zula Mae and Dale were in from Texas, and kinfolk were as "thick as thieves". A grand time was had by all. A huge thanks to Cynthia's parents for hosting this fantastic event!!!

Father's Day 2005

Father's Day was a three-day event around our house! It all started Thursday night when my son, Nicholas, came over to celebrate with us. After a quick trip to the mall with him and Casey and dinner at Arby's we settled in to open his gift. It was a Led Zepplin t-shirt! Cool! Friday night found us at my Mom and Everett's home enjoying a fantastic meal cooked on their grill. After opening his gift and enjoying the cappucino I made we played some cards. The girls won! Wow! LOL! Saturday found us at Cynthia's parents enjoying the Shoemaker Family Reunion where we gave her dad his birthday present and his Father's Day present. We had a wonderful time with them all day Saturday! Sunday morning we attended church with my Dad and Terry and treated them to lunch at Speedy Gonzalez afterwards where he opened his gift. Cynthia and I then retired to our backyard resort where we spent the remainder of the day floating in the pool with the exception of a quick trip to Freckles where we enjoyed a custard treat.

Fathers are wonderful and well worth the effort of celebrating. Current statistics brim with the fact that a involved dad makes for healthier and more productive children. We are so glad to have these men in our lives and very glad that we took the time to celebrate them and show our appreciation. We have been blessed beyond belief!! Happy Father's Day!!!!
